Families move to Oconee County specifically for the school system, and North Oconee High School in Watkinsville is a primary reason why. NOHS consistently ranks among the top public high schools in Georgia, with strong AP participation, competitive athletics, and a student body that reflects the community’s investment in academic excellence. There’s a friendly rivalry with Oconee County High School, and both schools push students toward high achievement, but North Oconee tends to have slightly higher AP participation rates and SAT averages. UGA is a primary target for many NOHS families, given its proximity and the number of legacy families in the area.
