Accessibility
I want everyone who lands here, parents, students, and anyone using assistive technology, to be able to read this site and reach me. If something gets in your way, tell me and I’ll fix it.
What I aim for
This site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. In plain terms: every image that carries meaning has a text description, every page can be used with a keyboard alone and shows you clearly where the keyboard is, every page starts with a “skip to content” link so you are not tabbed through the menu each time, text has enough contrast to read, nothing flashes, headings are in order, and forms have visible labels and clear error messages. Answers in the question sections are part of the page rather than something a script has to fetch. Motion is turned off for visitors whose device asks for reduced motion.
Where it stands
I review the site against those guidelines myself each time I change it. As of September 2026, the known gaps are:
- The handwritten worked problems are artwork, not text. Each one is announced with a description of what the problem is, but the handwriting itself is not readable by a screen reader and the individual steps are not transcribed. If you want one written out, ask and I will send it.
- The free diagnostic at assessment.rainwatertutoring.com is a separate application and is being reviewed separately. Its timing and question layout may not yet meet AA in every respect. If you need the diagnostic in another form, I’ll run it with you by phone or Zoom at no charge.
Reaching a person
When you call (706) 389-0528 and I am with a student, an automated assistant answers, tells you that it is an assistant, and takes a message; I call back myself. If an automated phone system is difficult for you to use — and for plenty of people it is — you do not have to get past it. Text that same number, or write to info@rainwatertutoring.com, and it comes straight to me. Say that a call back is easier and I will call you.
If something isn’t working
Write to info@rainwatertutoring.com or call or text (706) 389-0528 and tell me the page and what happened. I’ll answer within two business days and fix what I can straight away. If the fix takes longer, I’ll tell you when to expect it and get you the information another way in the meantime.
Tutoring itself
Sessions can be adapted. I work regularly with students who have ADHD, dyslexia, processing differences, and anxiety, and I’ll follow an existing 504 plan or IEP accommodation where it makes sense for one-on-one work. Remote sessions run on Eastern time and can use captions, and materials can be provided in larger type or as editable files on request.
Technical notes
The site is plain HTML and CSS with a small amount of JavaScript. Every page’s content — including every answer in the question sections — is in the page itself and readable with JavaScript switched off. Two things do need it: the inquiry form, which submits in the background, and the “keep going” suggestion at the foot of a page, which is hidden entirely without it. If the form will not work for you, the phone number and email address at the top and bottom of every page reach me directly and are the faster route anyway. It is tested in current Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, and with VoiceOver on macOS and iOS. There are no third-party overlays or “accessibility widgets” on this site, on purpose.
